FRIENDS
OF THE LIBRARY

Who are the Friends of the Dixon Public Library?

They're people interested in libraries and the services they provide, in good literature, in programs and events which promote use of the Library, and especially in encouraging children and young adults to discover the lifelong benefits of reading and regular use of the public library.

What do they do to help?

The Friends provide financial contributions which help support the Summer Reading Program, and which also help purchase books,  The Friends also give away new books to Dixon's children at two community events: the Youth Block Party in May, and the Tree Lighting Event in December.

How do the Friends raise funds?

An "open every day" book sale happens at the Library, where donated books of all kinds and for all audiences as well as previously-enjoyed magazines are displayed and available in the Friends Book Corner. There are audio books, videotapes and DVDs as well.
Two or three times a year, the Friends hold special book sales as well (which will be listed on the Library's Calendar on the website).
All of the items for sale have been donated by individuals like you.

You can contact the current chair of the Friends:

When does the group have meetings?

The regular meeting happens on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00pm in the Library. Occasionally meetings are rescheduled or cancelled — call the Library to confirm!
