The Dixon Public Library Commission appointed Gregg T. Atkins as District Librarian. Mr. Atkins was previously the Dean of Learning Resources at Sacramento City College and holds a MA degree in Library Science from UC Berkeley. He has more than 20 years of library management experience, and considerable experience as a leader and advocate for statewide library services, part of which was developed while serving as the President of the California Library Association in 1997. He has been very active in promoting inter-type library cooperation at the state and local level, and gained public library experience as a Trustee of the San Mateo Public Library.
Interim District Librarian Roger Pearson observed that "Atkins' great experience in library automation and building projects will be most valuable to the Dixon Public Library, as will his strong reputation for advocacy of libraries of all types."
